Pittsburgh Panthers Game Notes

Israel Abanikanda announced Monday via his personal Twitter account that he'll forego the Sun Bowl against UCLA on Dec. 30 and instead prepare for the 2023 NFL Draft. Abanikanda is now slated to enter the NFL after a solid three-year stint at Pittsburgh. In that span, the 215-pound running back rushed 390 times for 2,177 yards and 28 touchdowns, while he also caught 38 passes for 354 yards and three more scores. Despite missing a game and a half due to injury during his junior campaign, Abanikanda led the country with 21 touchdowns, ranked No. 9 nationally in total rushing yards (1,431) and was selected first team All-ACC.

UCLA Bruins Game Notes

Zach Charbonnet totaled 19 rushes for 95 yards during Saturday's 48-45 loss to USC. He also caught four passes for 29 yards. As expected, Charbonnet had success against USC's questionable rush defense but failed to put any points on the board. He was able to break out a few good runs but was caught in the backfield a couple of times. USC's defense held up better than expected, but Charbonnet has been a frustration for every defense he's faced.
