2022 Heisman Trophy Odds: Two Value Bets and When to Place Them

A new college football season will be here in no time and since it’s hard to predict what will happen

because every year we get many surprises, we will give you all the information needed to beat the NCAAF odds.

Below we go over two value bets to win the Heisman Trophy this year. We study the betting odds for two players and explain what to expect from them and why and when to bet on them.

C.J. Stroud, Ohio State Quarterback (+260 at BetOnline)

Last year, Ohio State signal-caller C.J. Stroud finished 37 of 46 for 573 passing yards with six touchdowns and one interception in his team’s 48-45 win against Utah at the Rose Bowl on January 1. It was Stroud’s second year as a starter for the Buckeyes and this year he will lead an offense that averaged at least 41 points per game on every season since 2016.

Stroud’s Stats Last Season

  • 4,435 passing yards, 44 touchdowns and six interceptions in 12 games

  • 71.9 Pass Completion Percentage

  • 10.1 Passing Yards Per Attempt

  • 186.6 Passer Rating

  • 91.6 Total Quarterback Rating

C.J. Stroud ranked second in the country with 10.1 Passing Yards Per Attempt in 2021-22 and while wide receivers Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave left for the NFL, this year he’ll have plenty of talent at his disposal once again.

Star wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba returns and Stroud and him can complement each over very well. Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka will also be part of what should be a very good Ohio State receiving corps.

Add that to Ohio State’s strong offensive line and he’ll be in good shape. Ohio State has important home games in Week 1 against Notre Dame and to end the regular season against Michigan. A good showing at both contests can help Stroud’s case to win this award.

Bet on Stroud to win the Heisman Trophy in the first month of the season because he is a frontrunner for this award at BetOnline and he can win voters over if he has a strong start.

Caleb Williams, USC Quarterback (+1000 at BetOnline)

The USC Trojans are at a crossroads right and what Caleb Williams does next season can make or break this team’s immediate future. USC made several major additions in the transfer portal but they also lost some talent. Williams is undoubtedly the X-Factor for this team now that they embark in a new era under Lincoln Riley.

Williams’ Stats Last Season (With Oklahoma)

  • 1,912 passing yards, 21 touchdowns and four interceptions in 11 games

  • 64.5 Pass Completion Percentage

  • 9.1 Passing Yards Per Attempt

  • 169.6 Passer Rating

  • 86.5 Total Quarterback Rating

  • 442 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 79 carries

Caleb Williams is undoubtedly one of the most talented quarterbacks in the country and yes, he did lack polish as a freshman at Oklahoma but he can be a productive player at an elite level if he’s makes some improvements this year.

USC is a recognized program in college football and leading them back to contention would make Caleb Williams a Heisman Trophy contender. Bet on Williams early in the offseason, as he is a sleeper pick. Don’t bet the farm though, make a small, fun bet on him.
