2 Exciting Heavyweight Bouts to Bet On

Two Exciting Heavyweight Title Bouts to Bet On

The next few weeks are important ones for the heavyweight boxing division.

Fans will be hoping their bets will be winners as Anthony Joshua takes on Oleksandr Usyk. Then it’s just another month before Deontay Wilder tries to win his heavyweight title back from Tyson Fury. It’s going to be a very busy time for bookmakers.

First to make their walk to the ring will be Joshua and Usyk. It’ll happen soon after the playing of Neil Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline.’ You have to wonder if boxing fans know any other of his songs! There is joy and sadness surrounding this fight for all the heavyweight belts, aside from the WBC title held by Fury.

2021 was supposed to see Joshua take on Fury for all the belts. The winner would then have another fight outside the ring to try and stop the boxing organizations stripping him of their belt for not taking on their mandatory challenger. What would you do? Take on Joe Joyce or have a rematch with the opponent you’ve just beaten or face Deontay Wilder?

We may yet see Fury v Joshua in December, but both need to win their next fights for that to happen. Although you may bet on that happening, it’s nowhere near a certainty it will happen. Both title defences are difficult ones and the odds on at least one champion being dethroned are tempting.

Anthony Joshua last defended his many belts in December of last year against Kubrat Pulev. His opponent was unable to defy the odds and was beaten in the ninth round. Joshua hasn’t been the busiest of boxers in recent years. The win over Pulev was only his second win since 2018.

Two years ago, sportsbooks were delighted when Joshua was the overwhelming favourite to beat Andy Ruiz Jr and lost his titles. They were regained six months later when an overweight man turned up to defend the titles and lost on points. Since then, there’s just been the defence against Pulev.

Joshua isn’t the kind of person who will stay out of the gym between fights if there’s a long break between contests. He was getting ready to fight Fury before that bout was cancelled and Usyk came in came replacement for this fight in London on September 25.

Usyk is the former King of the Cruiserweights with only two fights at this division. He’s beaten Chazz Witherspoon and Dereck Chisora. Both decent wins but now he steps up a few levels in the heavyweight division. The odds are that he may not be able to cope with the power that Joshua possesses.

Betting on that fight is an easier task than Fury v Wilder III. Usyk has a chance of beating the odds to win the title, but no one will be surprised if Joshua wins. With Fury v Wilder though, anything could happen and judging on their first two fights, probably will.

British boxing is going through an exciting period at present, especially with the fans back in attendance. There are so many betting opportunities available for these two heavyweight title fights and checking out the bet365 betting offer is a great idea.

It took a courtroom to give us this trilogy fight and scupper Joshua v Fury for the time being. Fury didn’t seem too upset over being told he had to fight Wilder. Was that because he fancied beating Wilder again or glad he didn’t have to take on Joshua?

Betting on this fight that takes place in Las Vegas on October 9 is going to be a difficult task. We know that Wilder can put Fury down, but the current champion can say the same about his opponent. This is the kind of bout that illustrates just how exciting it can be to bet on boxing.

Every punch can change a fight one way or another. The next punch landed might just be the one that wins or loses you your bet. Then again, you might spend ages working out who to bet on in the recent Warrington v Lara fight and see it end in a technical draw due to a clash of heads.

Actually, as was proved in the first Wilder v Fury fight, betting on a draw can be rather profitable.

A draw was never looking likely for gambler to profit from in the rematch. Fury was on top throughout that fight with Wilder looking well below his best. We all know that Wilder is a far inferior boxer to Wilder (and most of the heavyweight contenders) but he just couldn’t get going and was stopped in seven rounds.

The comprehensive way that Fury won the second fight didn’t see a call for another bout between them. It was time to move on for the new champion and time for gamblers to start wondering whether to bet on Fury or Joshua.

Then came the court ruling and wondering if Wilder can defy the odds and regain his title. He’s bee working hard in the gym and trying to come up with combination punches that could dethrone Fury. After all, he knows that he can knock his opponent down.

Fury v Wilder is a fascinating fight and a great one to bet on. We’ll know early on if Wilder has changed and learned new ways to fight. Or will it be another case of Fury outboxing Wilder and winning again?
