Tristan Jarry (lower body) is still going through his off-ice rehab, per coach Mike Sullivan. Sullivan said that Jarry did not skate on Wednesday. Casey DeSmith, who left Tuesday's game with a lower-body injury, didn't take part in Wednesday's optional practice. He is listed as day-to-day. Jarry has already been ruled out for Game 2 versus the New York Rangers on Thursday and it is looking like DeSmith could be unavailable as well.

Igor Shesterkin allowed four goals on 83 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 triple-overtime Game 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. Wow. In a game which felt exhaustingly-long just watching, Shesterkin surrendered a game-winning goal to Evgeni Malkin about six minutes into the third overtime period, finally wilting after putting in an effort for the ages. Long before the marathon ended with New York trudging off the ice, Shesterkin actually held a 2-0 second-period lead. A pair of goals by Jake Guentzel erased that advantage, but Shesterkin would have one more lead to work with -- this one courtesy of a Chris Kreider goal which put the Rangers up 3-2. He again could not hold the advantage, allowing a tying Bryan Rust goal near the end of the second period. Neither team would score again until Malkin ended the game in Pittsburgh's favor a couple of real life hours later. The two teams will do it all again in Game 2 on Thursday.

Golden Knights vs. Blues Betting Prediction

The Penguins are still just 1-4 in their last five games at Madison Square Garden, while the home team is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings between these two teams and the favorite is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings. The Penguins are also just 2-5 in their last seven road games are 2-6 in their last eight games as an underdog and have dropped six of their last eight games coming off a win. The Rangers, meanwhile, are 20-9 in their last 29 games as a home favorite, are 27-13 in their last 40 games overall and are 50-19 in their last 69 games as a betting favorite.

NHL BETTING PREDICTION: NEW YORK RANGERS -161
