Capitals vs. Bruins, 1/20/22 NHL Betting Predictions

The Capitals and Bruins will clash on ESPN+ Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. ET from the TD Garden in Boston, MA. The Bruins are coming off an ugly loss to the Hurricanes in which they allowed seven goals but are they a good bet to rebound tonight as a home favorite?

Washington Capitals DFS Spin

Vitek Vanecek stopped 30-of-33 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Winnipeg Jets. Vanecek and the Capitals fell behind 2-0 early after Kyle Connor and Cole Perfetti scored goals within the first two-and-a-half minutes of the first period. That portended a rotten performance for the 26-year-old netminder, but to his credit, Vanecek pumped the brakes, took a breath and proceeded to shut out the Jets until Pierre-Luc Dubois broke the spell with a game-tying goal near the end of the third period. Vanecek had been looking to build on his road shutout of the Islanders in his previous start, but the larger picture sees him having now surrendered three goals a contest in three of his last four games. A Thursday matchup with the Bruins shows next on Washington's schedule.

Boston Bruins DFS Spin

Patrice Bergeron scored a goal in Tuesday's 7-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Bergeron's goal against Frederik Andersen midway through the first period at least temporarily kept Boston in the game, pulling them to within 2-1 on the scoreboard. The rest of the contest was all Hurricanes. On the whole this season, Bergeron has logged 12 goals and 31 points over the course of 35 games played.

Capitals vs. Bruins Betting Prediction

The Capitals are 0-5 in their last five meetings with the Bruins and are just 1-4 in their last five games in Boston. The favorite, meanwhile, is 4-1 in the last five meetings between these two teams, while the Bruins are 5-1 in their last six games overall, are 7-1 in their last eight games against the Eastern Conference and are 23-9 in their last 32 games as a home favorite.
