Texas Tech bests Oklahoma State

Texas Tech is coming off its biggest win of the year, topping Oklahoma State at home last weekend, 45-35. The Red Raiders improved to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Big 12. Tech is 3-2 against the spread and 3-2 with the under.

Tech has been a mix of good and bad. The Red Raiders are putting up 31.6 points and 483.8 yards per game on offense while giving up 26.2 points and 414.4 yards per game on defense. Quarterback Alan Bowman continues to be out with a shoulder injury, but Jett Duffey has thrown for 548 yards and four touchdowns in his place. Armand Shyne is the leading rusher with 281 yards and three scores while T.J. Vasher has caught 24 passes for 358 yards and three touchdowns.

Bears stay unbeaten

Baylor is coming off a 31-12 win at Kansas State last weekend for its biggest win of the season. The Bears are now 5-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Big 12. They have a 3-2 mark against the spread while going 3-2 with the under.

The Bears have been very balanced on offense and defense, ranking in the top 30 nationally in both. Baylor gives up just 15.4 points and 306.2 yards per game this year while the offense is putting up 38.8 points and 465.6 yards per game. Charlie Brewer is leading the offense with 1,202 passing yards and 11 touchdowns without an interception. Denzel Mims is his leading receiver with 29 catches for 438 yards and five scores while John Lovett is leading the ground attack with 312 yards and three touchdowns. Clay Johnston is leading the Baylor defense with 48 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

College Football Betting Trends

Texas Tech

The Red Raiders are 6-2 with the over in their last eight conference games and 4-1 with the over in their last five against a winning team.

Baylor

The Bears have hit the under in six straight conference games and in seven of their last 10 overall.

Prediction:

These two have hit the under in their last two meetings, but the total is five points lower than it was a year ago. While Tech had a strong showing at home last weekend, the Red Raiders have put up just 30 points combined in two road games. Tech is facing a good Baylor defense that hasn’t allowed more than 21 points in a single game. While Baylor hasn’t faced an offense comparable to Tech, I still think the Bears will hold up at home against a backup QB. Offensively for Baylor, the Bears aren’t terribly dynamic this year, but they are going up against a bad defense. That could open the door for a scoring outburst, but I think Baylor will look to play more ball control and keep Tech’s offense off the field.
