Indians score four in 11th

Cleveland used a four-run 11th inning Friday night at Minnesota to post a 6-2 victory and improve to 82-60 overall along 39-31 at home. Francisco Lindor helped pace the Indians offense as he finished 2-for-6 with a home run and two RBIs. Oscar Mercado went 3-for-5 with a double, a walk, a run scored and two RBIs. Carlos Santana went 2-for-5 plus a walk. Tyler Clippard picked up the win in relief as he struck out three in 1 1/3 perfect innings. Aaron Civale draws the start tonight for Cleveland as he enters with a 3-3 record, 1.94 ERA and 1.03 WHIP plus 34 strikeouts over 41 2/3 innings of work.

Twins drop series opener

Minnesota fell 6-2 in 11 innings at home Friday night against Cleveland to drop to 87-54 overall and 39-30 at home. C.J. Cron led the Twins offense as he went 1-for-5 with a double and an RBI. Jorge Polanco was 2-for-5 with an RBI. Max Kepler ended the night 2-for-5. Lewis Thorpe took the loss in relief as he gave up one earned run on one hit with one strikeout and no walks over one inning. Jake Odorizzi takes the mound tonight for Minnesota as he comes in with a 14-6 record, 3.61 ERA and 1.23 WHIP plus 153 strikeouts across 142 innings pitched.

MLB Betting Trends

Cleveland

The Indians are 4-0 in the last four Civale starts versus the AL Central. Cleveland is 38-14 in its last 52 games versus the AL Central.

Minnesota

The Twins are 10-3 in their last 13 games overall. Minnesota is 4-9 in its last 13 home games.

Prediction:

Last night's game was hard-fought with Cleveland finally carving out a big inning to put it away in extras. With the Indians needing every win they can get as they pursue a playoff spot, going back to the well here isn't a bad idea. Civale hasn't looked like a rookie and even against a strong offense, I trust him. I can't really say the same for Odorizzi as he's slowed considerably after a red-hot start to the season.
