Who will be the HR Leader in 2020?

MLB Prop Predictions, 1/24/20 Which Player will be 2020 Home Run Leader?

Which player will be the 2020 Home Run King for Major League Baseball? Yankees slugger Aaron Judge is the current favorite at 10/1, but does he offer the best value?

The Odds

According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com, Judge is 10/1 to hit the most home runs during the 2020 MLB season, followed by Mike Trout of the Angels at 12/1. Mets slugger Pete Alonso, who hit the most home runs of any player in 2019 with 53, is also 12/1, followed by Ronald Acuna Jr. of the Braves at 14/1. Christian Yelich of the Brewers, Cody Bellinger of the Dodgers, Eugenio Suarez of the Reds and Giancarlo Stanton of the Yankees are all 16/1, respectively.

Who will be the home run leader in 2020? Here are three players I like to accomplish the feat.

Giancarlo Stanton (16/1)

Stanton appeared in just 18 regular-season games last year for the Bronx Bombers due to a variety of injuries, but that’s also creating some betting value. He was relatively effective at the plate in the postseason before dealing with a Grade 2 quad strain during the ALCS. While Yankee fans are disgusted with the 30-year-old (who is owed $244 million on a contract that runs through 2027), Stanton could have a big season if he’s healthy. For starters, he’s projected to hit behind DJ LeMahieu, Judge and Gleyber Torres, as well as be protected by Gary Sanchez, who is expected to hit fifth behind Stanton. There’s no question that he has the power to hit 50 home runs while playing most of his games at Yankee Stadium, a total band box. I love the value here.

Mike Trout (12/1)

While he won’t benefit from taking the majority of his hacks at Yankee Stadium, like Stanton, Trout will have plenty of protection this year hitting in front of the newly acquired Anthony Rendon. Trout hit 45 home runs a year ago, which was a season high, and there’s no reason to believe he’ll suffer a dip in production this season. Trout also indicated back in November that his foot is back to 100 percent following surgery. He had an operation in mid-September to remove a neuroma from his foot and has gone through a normal offseason with no limitations. The MVP is a legitimate candidate to lead the league in dingers.

Joey Gallo (18/1)

The Rangers are on track to open the new Globe Life Field, which is expected to be just as hitter-friendly as the previous Globe Life Park. Gallo only hit 22 home runs last season but that’s because he was held to only 70 games due to a fractured right wrist suffered towards the end of July. That said, when he played 145 games and 148 games, respectively, in 2017 and 2018, he hit 41 and 40 home runs, respectively, in those two seasons. Assuming he’s healthy, this is another American League slugger that can hit 40-plus home runs.
